The 31st Alps-Adriatic Youth Chess Gala took place from the 16th to the 18th of October 2018 in St. Veit an der Glan /Carinthia. Over 100 young players from the Alps-Adriatic area and beyond competed during the three days in two classes – 14 years and younger and 20 years and younger. The tournament was clearly dominated by the Croatian chess school “Goranka” which won in both classes. In the 14 years and younger-class the second place went to the Slovenian chess club “Sveta Nedelja” while the chess club from Slovenj Gradec came in third. In the 20 years and younger-class the team from Steiermark/Styria came in second followed by “Sveta Nedelja”.
