Presided by Prefect Radimir Čačić the Alps-Adriatic-Council has met in Varaždin/Croatia on November 21st 2019.
Among other issues the political level of the Alps-Adriatic-Alliance (AAA) has adopted a resolution which supports the regionalization process in the Republic of Slovenia. This initiative was started as a bottom-up approach by the Slovenian municipalities and a successful regionalization will most likely open new perspectives for interregional cooperation in the Alps-Adriatic area. Varaždin County also plans to initiate a program for the exchange of civil servants among AAA-members, in order to deepen interregional relations and to learn from each other. Due to rising GDPs in the recent past, the Council has also increased the AAA-membership fees for 2020 and 2021 slightly. This budget will be used for the development of joint projects. While the chairman reported about the Autonomous Region of Vojvodina´s interest in joining the AAA, the political level had to accept the withdrawal of Karlovac County form the network.
At the end of the meeting the representatives reelected Varaždin County´s Prefect Radimir Čačić unanimously to chair the Alps-Adriatic-Council also in 2020 and 2021.
