On November 22nd 2017 the Alps-Adriatic-Council met for its third meeting since the foundation of the Alps-Adriatic-Alliance (AAA) in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee (Carinthia).
In his function as chairman for 2016 and 2017 Carinthia´s Governor Peter Kaiser congratulated all members of the AAA to 177 projects which were supported since 2014. Among these are 17 which were co-financed by the EU. Five best practice projects (Alps-Adriatic Golden Wines, CROWD, INCLUSIA, SIGG 2017, Youth in Europe) were presented to the political level.
Governor Kaiser also pointed out that 2018 will be an anniversary year for the AAA: Considering the foundation of the Alps-Adriatic Working Community in 1978 the AAA-members will look back to “40 years of institutional cooperation in the Alps-Adriatic-Area” in the coming year.
The final highlight of the meeting was the hand-over of the chairmanship for 2018 and 2019 to Varaždin County (Croatia). In his first statement Varaždin County´s Prefect Radimir Čačić pointed out that his goal will be “an even more visible AAA so that the term `Alps-Adriatic´ becomes a brand in the best sense of the word”.
